Welcome to our Employee Spotlight blog series – Each month we feature a Q&A from one of our top employees at Centermark by Web.com.
This month we are featuring Wes Curry, Customer Success Consultant.
Where did you grow up? What was the experience like?
I grew up in Herndon, VA just outside of our nation’s capital. I had a unique experience growing up there. Balanced between a smaller suburb while being close to a culturally rich and historical metropolis. From there I went to Virginia Tech and loved every minute. Go Hokies!
What drew you to work at Centermark by Web.com?
Culture. My good friend Sarah McMillian always told me about the culture experience here and when I moved to Scottsdale, applying was first on my agenda. Thanks, Sarah!
What is your favorite part of being a consultant?
My favorite part is having direct contact with our end users and passing their feedback to the appropriate channels. I have seen changes result from this interaction and I was thrilled to share the changes with those clients.
What is a quality you appreciate in an employee or colleague?
Honesty. It’s important for obvious reasons when speaking to clients and coworkers, but we must be honest with ourselves first. If you don’t believe in your actions and words, no one will. Don’t be a parrot, be yourself and own it. People can tell the difference.
What are your hobbies? What do you do for fun?
I love exploring nature and photography, very often combined. I’m also into music from pretty much every genre and time period. I have about 800 vinyl LPs that I regularly listen to. There is something special about enjoying music in this way that is missing these days.
If you could choose anyone (living or dead), who would you pick as your mentor?
My son, Ian. I have more to learn from him than any other person I will ever meet. Love you, dude!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would have to say Italy. I have no idea where this comes from but since I was very little I would ask my mom if we could be from Italy. Of course she would tell me that it’s not how that works. To which I would respond, as any 4 year old would, “can we go to the courthouse and have them change it then?”
If you had a time machine and could go on 1 trip to the past or the future, where would you go and why?
1968, to enjoy the best 6 years of music this planet has ever heard.
If you could be a Lead singer for a band, who would you choose and why?
Bill Withers. His voice, words and music are incredibly touching to me and I would love to know how it feels to have that kind of effect on people. I also appreciate that he could effectively cover topics across the board whether it was about social issues like racism, love, friendship, family or just positive energy for the sake of having a good time.
