Welcome to our Employee Spotlight blog series – Each month we feature a Q&A from one of our top employees at Web Brand Networks.
This month we are featuring Debra Lozano, Sales Executive.
Where did you grow up? What was the experience like?
I grew up in the Chicago area. I hate to admit this but I did not make it through the first semester of college. I was a bit of a mess then, not a good student and had no interest in classes. Instead, I decided to go to New York City with some friends. I had $400 in my pocket when I arrived there. I ended up living in Manhattan, having kids, and staying for 16 fantastic years.
What drew you to work at Yodle?
I had been in the hotel business for 34 years and decided that was enough. I left Orlando 4 years ago and wanted to learn something new. I like sales, and I knew Richard Newman from church. Richard was working here and was doing well. So I started in Local exactly 3 years ago and never looked back!
What is a quality you appreciate in an employee or colleague?
I really appreciate working with others who are interested in doing the right thing.
What are your hobbies? What do you do for fun?
I love being outdoors, hiking and kayaking. I moved to NC to do this, but haven’t really done as much as I’d like. I love getting together with friends and learning to make vegan meals. This might not qualify as a hobby, but I am involved in helping with human sex trafficking issues in Charlotte.
If you could choose anyone (living or dead), who would you pick as your mentor?
I would pick Zig Ziglar because he is beloved by so many people. He has influenced me a lot and has taught me to see sales as helping others.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would go to Israel…I am hoping to go there in 2018.
If you had a time machine and could go on 1 trip to the past or the future, where would you go and why?
My future trip would be just 1 short month from now, to be there for the birth of my first grandchild! This photo was taken last month with my daughter Alexis, in Florida. She is expecting a boy!
If you could be a Lead singer for a band, who would you choose and why?
Well, I would much prefer to play my electric bass in a band! Truly, singing is not my thing…I was in a women’s praise and worship band in Orlando and I miss that. I would love to play in the band again. We called ourselves Band ‘O Sistas. Seriously.
