Welcome to our Employee Spotlight blog series – Each month we feature a Q&A from one of our top employees at Yodle for Brand Networks.
This month we are featuring Kristen Krzesicki, Manager, Customer Success Consultants.
Where did you grow up and go to college? What was the experience like?
I grew up in a small town outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan. I loved the unique combination of small town charm coupled with a lively college town just down the road. Though I love AA and all it has to offer, I opted for an out of state college and fell instantly in love with Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. To say my Miami experience was perfect would be an understatement – I cried for weeks leading up to graduation, and Oxford holds an incredibly special place in my heart. I can’t wait to force my own children to go there – kidding…maybe…
What drew you to work at Yodle?
The Yodle culture and the challenge of a new role! My fiancé and I decided to move to Charlotte last year in search of a new adventure and new careers after being burnt out at the ad agency we were working for. I was ready for the challenge of managing a larger team and really appreciated the Yodle culture and values. Turns out, I made a pretty great decision.
What is your favorite part of being a Manager?
Mentoring my team! I am so fortunate to work with an amazing team of consultants. I love learning from them and sharing my digital marketing and account management expertise. The best feeling in the world is seeing your team members accomplish something great; luckily my team continues to do so time and time again.
What is a quality you appreciate in an employee or colleague?
Basically the same qualities I appreciate in any human being – honesty, integrity and a great sense of humor. It goes a long way with me when someone keeps their commitment, but it says a lot more when someone can admit a mistake and grow from it. I believe that keeping a positive attitude and a great sense of humor even in stressful times will take you far.
What are your hobbies? What do you do for fun?
I am a bookworm and a sports fanatic! If I’m not cheering obnoxiously for the Detroit Tigers via my MLB TV subscription, I’m likely curled up with my dog, Henry, and my Kindle. Outside of baseball season, I’m likely crushing my friends and family in Fantasy Football. I also love spending time outside and exploring new bars and restaurants.
If you could choose anyone (living or dead), who would you pick as your mentor?
Julia Child. I love to cook, I’m just not great at it, so I know she could teach me a thing or two. Plus I really admire her ability to be unapologetically herself – her spunk, drive and energy really resonates with me.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Thailand. I traveled all over Asia studying abroad and didn’t make it to Thailand. I’m fascinated with all that the country has to offer (history, cities, beaches, etc.), would LOVE to hang out with an elephant, and I’m a noodle addict.
If you had a time machine and could go on 1 trip to the past or the future, where would you go and why?
I think I could have some fun in the 1920s. I would be ‘on-trend’ with my shorter hair and I love a good fringe skirt. Plus, if Leo is there, count me in!
If you could be a Lead singer for a band, who would you choose and why?
I love music, but I don’t necessarily have a favorite band. I’m really into podcasts these days, so I’m going to make this question my own and say that my dream is to be a co-host of the Gilmore Guys podcast. I happen to think I know everything there is to know about Gilmore Girls (try not to be too impressed) – just ask me for my audition tape.
